PROJECT AREA

Geographical

The tract lies in the vindhyan ranges at an elevation varying form 305 to 600 meters above mean sea level . The area is undulating with hills and slopes. As typical of the vindhyan ranges, the region is constiuted of sand stones . The hills edn in steep , sometimes vertical cliffs on one side and gently slope down towards the direction of the dip. The soil cmposition is mainly alluvial found in plains and black cotton soil found in patches. The climate of the tract is hot and humid to dry. The annual in patches. The climate of the tract is hot and humid to dry .The annual mean mean daily temperature is 250 C which rises to 320 C as mean daily maximum temperatue and drops to 190 C as mean daily minium temperature. The normal range of annual rainfall is 1100 mm.

The forests

The forests of the area may be classified as Tropical dry deciduous forest and may further be sub classified under ecological types of 5A/C1B (Southern Tropical Dry Decidous Teak Forests) and 5A/C3 (Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous Forests). Some of the important NWFP species are Mahua, Aonla, Achar, Safed Musli, Kullu, Salai, Rosa grass, Marorphalli, Vantulsi, Palas, Gudmar, Satavar, Kalihari, Chirota, Baheda etc.
